Social Studies
We have been working on writing thank you letters to active and retired military members.  We will be sending them through an organization called Operation Gratitude that collects, screens, and includes them in care packages.   We had a couple extra days to spend so I thought this would be a good way to teach our kids the value of respecting our military while sending a little encouragement.  This letter will go in as a completion grade for Social Studies and we will be giving it a small writing grade as well.  I just expect that they can use correct grammar and letter format.  I have also read them over for basic spelling mistakes that they can fix.

Starting on Wednesday we will be back in our regular Social Studies book.

Science
We have done several experiments to watch how rocks in nature go through different types of physical weathering.  Look for our pictures on Twitter!

Now we are moving on to chemical weathering and looking at how things like acid rain can change the environment.

Be sure that you are looking at Seesaw to hear more from your kids about our experiments.

Story of David and his son Absalom
King David is treated unfairly by his son Absalom.  Absalom had no respect for his father, a person in authority.  Absalom's plan was to become king and overtake the throne from his father.  Even though King David was treated poorly he honored God and fled with his people to Jerusalem.

Virtue Word of the Week: RESPECT
How can we respect God and others even when we are treated unfairly?

Memory Work: 1 Peter 2:20b-21
"But if when you do good and suffer for it you endure, this is a gracious thing in the sight of God. 21 For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps."
