News and Notes for September 11th-14th

Please join us on our first Field Trip of 4th grade!
This is trip is all about Missouri History.  We will be outdoors learning about the history of Missouri.

When: Wednesday, October 11th
Where: Shaw Nature Reserve - 307 Pinetum Loop Rd, Gray Summit, MO 63039
Depart School: 9:15 a.m. (or after chapel)
Return to School: 2:40 p.m.
We will be outdoors the whole day.  Please dress your child according to the weather.  They may wear jeans or other school uniform bottoms, CCLS polo and tennis shoes that can get muddy or dirty since we will be outside.
Your students will need to pack a lunch or order a sack lunch for the field trip.  Please make sure they have water as well since we will be outside.

You may choose to ride the bus, follow the bus, or meet us there.  They will have specific parking spaces for us; parking is limited so if you can carpool that would be much appreciated.
Email Mrs. Endorf - KEndorf@ccls-stlouis.org if you are able to join us for the trip.  We will be divided into small groups for the activities - we at least 8 adults but would gladly take more help.

Reading: Over the course of our first unit in reading students will be focusing on Reading Intensely, finding their "just right" books to read, and identifying character traits in stories.  Students should always have a book with them to pick up and read during our independent reading time.  We will meet with students individually to check their reading progress.

Math: Students will complete Lessons 9-10, and Investigation 1.

Remember - No School on Friday, September 15th -- Teachers will be attending a LESA (Lutheran Elementary School Association) Conference - thank you for giving us this day to grow professionally and spiritually.
